12 YEARS OF PPC
VARIOUS - LET IT BEATLESQUE (2019)
First there was "Meet The Beatlesque" (2007), then came "Beatlesque Again" (2011)
On those two PPC compilations, 105 songs performed by 104 artists or bands (as The Rutles were featured twice on the 2007 collection).
Today, 8 years later to celebrate 12 years of PPC, a brand new volume is ready to be shared on PPC, 52 new artists who were not involved on the first two collections try to reach the Fab Four perfection. As usual, no songs from the 60's era were used, only songs released between 1971 and 2019 have been compiled on "Let It Beatlesque".
Special note: This is a 2CD set with full artwork (booklet, inner, inlay, tray and disc) included.

TANZ DER YOUTH - I'M SORRY, I'M SORRY (1978)
After Brian James had left The Damned, he formed the short-lived Tanz Der Youth with some ex-members of Hawkwind/Jo Allen & The Shapes (Alan Powell) & Deviants/Pink Fairies/Warsaw Pakt (Andy Colqhoun). They released only one single on Radar Records in 1978, and perfomed four songs for a John Peel Session the same year: "I'm Sorry, I'm Sorry", "Delay" plus "Why I Die" and "Mistaken". None of those songs have been officially reissued.

TRIBUTE TO THE FAB FOUR
RUBBER SOUL UK (2008) vs RUBBER SOUL USA (2019)
In 2008, i made a Rubber Soul tribute based upon the UK edition of the album, and while i was checking the audio quality of the 2008 Tribute and using better audio files, it came to my mind it could be nice to make a new version of the tribute, but instead of using the UK album again, i decided that the basis would be now the US edition which has a slightly different track listing. So the UK version has been re-upped and the US version is shared here for the first time on PPC.

WARSAW PAKT - NEEDLE TIME (1977)
Andy Colquhoun formed WARSAW PAKT with John Manly and Jimmy Coull from The Rockets. Wolf Marlander played drums at first, until Lucas Fox (ex-Motorhead) joined a few months later. They looked for a bass player for a long time until they found Chris Underhill and played the UK circuit with bands like The Clash and The Damned. Mim Scala got the band a deal with Island Records for Warsaw Pakt to record an album 'Needle Time'
In 1977, London’s Warsaw Pakt recorded their album live, straight through, direct to the cutting lathe – no tape master, no overdubs, no mixing. The record was pressed, packed and shipped overnight and was in the record stores the following day, with the band’s fingers still bleeding, Needle Time was released. It sold an impressive 5,000 units almost immediately, but after that the label, inexplicably, refused to press more copies.
“The idea was to bypass tape and gain a very accurate recording that would be louder and clearer than any other method then available,” remembers guitarist Andy Colquhoun.
The actual process was simple. “It was play Side One, break, tune up, play Side Two,” he explains. “This was done three times. The engineers were very concerned about us destroying the cutting lathe heads, which ran about five grand each. At first the sound in their control room at the top of the building was very restrained. By the third take of the two sides it was OK, but not as good as the room sound. They used that take anyway. The master was taken directly to the factory and manufactured overnight, and we were in Virgin Records at Marble Arch the following afternoon signing copies.”
If there was an element of gimmickry to the recording method, no matter, the blazing urgency of the band’s performance, combined with a set of edgy, memorable songs makes Needle Time one of the most exciting releases of the ‘70s punk era. It’s also one of the most neglected.
After this the wheels quickly started to come off the operation. Warsaw Pakt did a last recording session at Island Hammersmith produced by Ed Hollis from the Hot Rods, but it was unproductive,” says Andy. “Our last gig was supporting Ian Dury at Dingwalls for a homeless benefit. After that it just fizzled out.”
Andy stuck with Tanz Der Youth long enough to record a John Peel session and one single, “I’m Sorry I’m Sorry” b/w “Delay,” released on Radar in September 1978. On “Delay” he takes lead vocals in addition to his bass duties. (Source)

RANDELL KIRSCH - NEAR LIFE EXPEARIENCE (1999)
Randell Kirsch formed The Pranks with Jeffrey Foskett and Bo Fox in 1979, they recorded an album worth of demos never officially released. Then, Randell Kirsch worked with Jan & Dean, The Beach Boys, Roger McGuinn and the Cowsills to name a few.
Signed to a solo artist deal with IRS Records in 1987, Kirsch brought wife LuAnn Olson and Chris Hickey on board to make it a band deal resulting in the 1988 release "Show Of Hands". Solo releases since then include "Poetry From The Burning Deck" (cassette only), and "Near Life Experience" that was first released as "Near Life Expeareance" on CD-R in 1998.
There are a few differences between the two editions:
1998 Edition: Track #11 is titled "Black Man" lasts 22'20 and has two hidden songs "I Will Follow" and "True Love Again" (vocals only) - the songs can be found after 14'45 of silence
1999 Edition: Track #11 is titled "Success Is 9-10ths Of The Law" (which is actually "Black Man" as it was named on the advance copy) lasts 46'01 and has four hidden songs "I Will Follow", "True Love Again" (vocals only), an untitled instrumental - the songs can be found after 17 minutes of silence. Then there's again 20 minutes of silence and a spoken outro can be heard.
So, i have edited the track #11 and split it, therefore removing all the lenghty silence parts.
NOTE
Randell Kirsch re-recorded for "Near Life Experience" five songs that were previously available on the Pranks Warner Demos: "Get Set" - "Something On The Order Of Love" - "The Last Ideal" - "True Love Again" - "Expectations".
Finally, the hidden song "I Will Follow" can also be found on the Jeffrey Foskett album "Twelve and Twelve" (2000) credited to Jeffrey Foskett with Randell Kirsch - though the mix sounds different.

THE BLADES - HOT FOR YOU (1980)
Paul Cleary asked his brother Laurence to join The Blades, a punk rock band he had formed to play at a hall in Ringsend in 1977. Although they started with Pat Larkin, Joey Donnelly and Johnny Burke in the line-up, they later reduced to a three-piece when Donnelly and Burke left. Laurence took the stage name 'Lar Schreiber', the band signed to 'Energy Records' and released their first single, a power pop masterpiece "Hot For You" in May 1980. The single was produced by Sean Tyla and Mark Dodson.
