THE RAPIDSHARE MESS
So RS has changed again, from last friday free users bandwidth is limited to a lame 6 k/s !!!, it means it is almost impossible to grab anything unless you are incredibly patient or you get a Premium account (i guess that's what RS really wants, but certainly not me)

All the PPC stuff is hosted on RS, so until i have found a way to solve this or if RS changes again the free users options, at best there will be no new posts, at worse it will be the end of PPC.

THE RAPIDSHARE MESS - DAY 2
1. The new RS has deleted some links (IPO 3 (CD2), IPO 7 (CD3) & all of IPO 8) without any reason, so the mess goes on.
2. I've visited a bunch of hosts, most of them look like some pinballs with plenty of popups windows opening eveywhere, with some fake buttons trying to make you install whatever they want., so i'm still searching...
3. A huge "Thank You" to all of the PPC addicts who have posted a comment about the RS mess.

THE RAPIDSHARE MESS - DAY 3
1. RS has increased the free users bandwidth from 6 k/s to 12 k/s, too slow yet,

2. I've tried a few hosts through JDownloader (this way no popups), here are some notes concerning free users
  • Freakshare: Files deleted after 30 days of inactivity. Mandatory captcha / 100 seconds wait / download 300 k/s / 15 minutes wait before downloading anything else. MAYBE NOT
  • Zippyshare: Maximum Size 200mb. Files deleted after 30days of inactivity. Mandatory captcha / no wait / download 200-250 k/s / parallel downloads allowed. MAYBEYES
  • uploaded:  download 50 k/s. A lot of blogs are using it. Waiting time between 2 files is around 2 hours. Has failed once with JDownloader, then 3 hours waiting.for a new IP. NO
Tomorrow i'll try a few other hosts. Stay tuned.

FLYING COLOR - FLYING COLOR (1987, Expanded 1996)
Flying Color's three mop-topped songwriters traded lead vocals and writing chores on their one and only album, a timeless tribute to ringing guitars. Probably even more derivative of the Byrds or Buffalo Springfield than the Mop Tops, Flying Color's perfect, guitar-based pop and harmonies marked a movement in rock that would take another ten years to take hold in the mainstream, but the album -- in particular the standout tracks "Dear Friend" and "Through Different Eyes" -- sounds just as vital as when it was released.

    READ CAREFULLY
Both files below were uploaded before the RS mess, it was planned to be posted the day the mess occured, I've decided to post anyway for the ones who have a RS account and for the incredibly patient readers. I've tried another host for the lossy file, let's see how it works with ZS

THE SHAZAM - HERE'S TO ALL THE MISFITS... (2009)

This promo item bears the same title as a live recording of The Shazam's February 1, 2003 concert at "The Garage" in Winston, Salem, released in 2004 on Parthenon Records

BRINSLEY SCHWARZ - CRUEL TO BE KIND (2004)
"Cruel to Be Kind" is the second installment of Brinsley Schwarz's BBC recordings released by Hux, following "What Is So Funny About Peace Love & Understanding?" by three years. This gathers most, but not all, of the BBC performances that didn't make the first volume, following the same mix-and-match sequencing as that collection, so sessions from 1971 alternate with those from 1973 and songs from a particular session are split up.

    AIRWAVES - NEXT STOP (1979)
With this inventive Hipgnosis art design, "Next Stop" was the second and final Airwaves album. Airwaves was a totally overlooked band (wrong time for sure) featuring two Rockfield Studios musicians: Dave Charles (Ernie Graham, Deke Leonard, Help Yourself, Dave Edmunds), John David (The Human Beans, Love Sculpture, Dave Edmunds), (John David also wrote three songs for The Searchers Sire albums) and Ray Martinez (Spring). Produced by ex-Spring member and renowned producer Pat Moran (The Searchers Sire years) , the album has some 10cc, Beatles (Klaatu?), Brian Wilson influences and is really worth a listen for anybody digging creative pop.

The album has never been reissued in CD format.

    NIGHTMAN - DON'T YOU KNOW EP (1979)
Nightman was fronted by Mike Colburn who was an early member of The Razz before they recorded their first 45 "C-Redux" (Colburn was also singer for a 60s DC band Nobody's Children who cut a cover of "I Can't Let Go").. Ted Nicely (member of The Razz) produced this excellent EP, before joining the band. Colburn also recruited the disbanded Razz members  Bill Craig on second guitar and Doug Tull on drums. They released the album "No Escape" a couple of years later.

THE POSIES - FROSTING ON THE BEATER (2013)
    20th Anniversary Live Edition

2013 marks the 20th anniversary of the Posies landmark album "Frosting on the Beater" and to celebrate, Ken Stringfellow and Jon Auer went back to Spain this November to perform it, with Mike Musburger and Dave Fox, who played on the album originally.

The band performed the entire album plus an encore of four songs.

Special note: I got the soundboard recording of the show from a spanish mate at the Alta Tension and i made a special artwork for the PPC blog.

CHRISTMAS - TIC TAC MISTLETOE (2013)

Here we go again, time of the holiday season is ringing in your jingle ears. 8th year of the PPC seasonal venture. All previous volumes are still available and quite enjoyable. So, if you want them, you can get them (even though those are RS links). "A Christmas Blog Gift For You" (2006), "Another Christmas Blog Gift For You - Born To Greet" (2007), "Dreamland With The Pop Snowflakes" (2008) or "Santa Claus & The Powerpop Criminals (2009), The Magnificent Seven (2010). Thanks for visiting the PPC Blog, and have a cool yule!...Enjoy the spirit of Christmas... and don't forget to comment about this piece of Peace On Earth.

This year, all the songs (minus one) are lossless sourced, this is why i'd like to thank Joe Algeri (a.k.a The JAC) for giving me the lossless version of the classic "What Child Is This?" by The Britannicas (with Herb Eimerman on lead vocals). So far, it was only available as a free download mp3 (bitrate 160). You can visit his Bandcamp pages here ...and purchase what you want..Check also ""I See Things Differently", a Joe Algeri compilation of various (vaguely) Christmas themed songs that have been released annually over the past decade.

For the ones who wouldn't know the PPC AWoS. From the 1st of December to the 24th of December, everyday you'll have to click on one slice of the image. Everyday, each compartment will show a new album never posted before on this blog. Each post will be available for just one day (or maybe two, it will depend on the new hosts). According to the winning votes of the poll
All the AWoS albums will be lossy (320 mp3 lame 3.98)
converted from FLAC 8 (Test  & Copy EAC 1.00)
    with dBPowerAMP Music Converter.
But 30% (around 7,5) of the AWoS albums will be also posted in lossless (FLAC 8)
